Ingredients

Scale

Teriyaki Sauce

  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons warm water

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 4 cups cooked white or brown rice
  • 1 cup broccoli, finely chopped
  • 2 large carrots, grated
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Additional garlic as preferred for sautéing
  • Optional garnish: green onions

Instructions

  1. Make Teriyaki Sauce: In a mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, 1/4 cup water, red wine vinegar, brown sugar, granulated sugar, minced garlic, ground ginger, cornstarch, and 2 tablespoons warm water until smooth and set aside.
  2. Sauté Vegetables: Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add diced onions and garlic, sautéing until fragrant and translucent. Then add chopped broccoli and grated carrots, cooking until the vegetables are tender but still vibrant, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Cook Ground Turkey: Add the ground turkey to the skillet with the vegetables. Cook, stirring frequently, until the turkey is thoroughly browned and no longer pink, about 6-8 minutes.
  4. Add Teriyaki Sauce: Pour the prepared teriyaki sauce into the skillet. Stir well to combine and let it simmer on low heat for approximately 5 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the turkey and vegetables evenly.
  5. Serve: Serve the teriyaki turkey mixture over a bed of 4 cups cooked white or brown rice. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired. Enjoy warm.
