Ingredients

Scale

Salmon Patty

  • 1 pound fresh salmon fillet, skin removed and finely chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Salmon: Finely chop the fresh salmon fillet or pulse in a food processor until lightly minced but not pureed, ensuring a good texture for the patties.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the chopped salmon, egg, breadcrumbs, parsley, dill, lemon zest, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until the ingredients are evenly incorporated without overworking the mixture.
  3. Form Patties: Shape the salmon mixture into 4 equal-sized patties, about 3/4 inch thick, ensuring they hold together firmly but are not packed too tightly.
  4. Pan-Cook the Burgers: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly oil the surface with olive oil or cooking spray. Place the salmon patties in the pan and cook for about 4–5 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C) and the outside is golden brown.
  5. Serve: Remove the burgers from the pan and let them rest for a minute. Serve on whole grain buns or lettuce wraps with your favorite toppings and condiments.

Notes

  • Use fresh salmon for the best flavor and texture; avoid frozen if possible.
  • Adjust herbs to taste; cilantro or chives can be great alternatives.
  • To keep burgers moist, do not overcook—monitor carefully while pan-cooking.
  • Serve with a side salad or steamed vegetables for a complete healthy meal.
  • For gluten-free option, substitute breadcrumbs with gluten-free breadcrumbs or crushed almonds.
