Ingredients

Scale

Marinade and Sauce

  • 1/2 cup hot sauce
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Chicken and Cooking

  • 4 chicken breasts, pounded thin
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 23 green onions, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the marinade. In a medium bowl, whisk together the hot sauce, sour cream, ketchup, and honey until smooth and creamy. Add paprika, ground cumin, kosher salt, and freshly ground black pepper, then whisk again to thoroughly combine all the spices and seasonings into the sauce.
  2. Marinate the chicken. Pour half of the prepared sauce mixture over the pounded thin chicken breasts in a shallow dish or bowl. Cover the dish tightly and refrigerate for 2 hours to allow the flavors to deeply penetrate the meat.
  3. Cook the chicken. When ready to cook, heat the olive oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned. Add the marinated chicken breasts, discarding any excess marinade. Cook the chicken for 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and fully cooked through.
  4. Warm the remaining sauce and serve. While the chicken is cooking or just after, heat the remaining half of the sauce in a small saucepan over medium heat until warmed through. Once the chicken is cooked, spoon the warmed sauce generously over each piece. Garnish with the thinly sliced green onions and serve immediately for a spicy, tangy, and sweet chicken dish.

Notes

  • For best results, pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness to ensure even cooking.
  • The marinade can be prepared a day in advance to deepen flavors.
  • Adjust the amount of hot sauce to control the spice level to your preference.
  • Serve with steamed rice, mashed potatoes, or a fresh green salad for a balanced meal.
  • Leftover chicken and sauce can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
