Dough
- 1 can Pillsbury Biscuit Dough
Baking Soda Bath
- 1/4 cup Baking Soda
- Water (to fill large pot halfway)
Egg Wash & Topping
- 1 Egg
- 1 tbsp Water
- Coarse Salt (for sprinkling)
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Prepare Dough: Separate the biscuit dough from the can and roll each biscuit piece into a small rope shape. Cut each rope into 4 equal bite-sized pieces.
- Boil Baking Soda Bath: Fill a large pot halfway with water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, carefully add the baking soda and stir to dissolve.
- Boil Pretzel Bites: Working in small batches, gently drop the pretzel dough pieces into the baking soda bath. Boil each side for 15 seconds to achieve the characteristic pretzel chewy crust. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
- Apply Egg Wash and Salt: In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to make an egg wash. Brush each pretzel bite generously with the egg wash, then immediately sprinkle with coarse salt for flavor and texture.
- Bake to Golden: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the pretzel bites for 15 minutes or until they turn golden brown and appetizingly chewy.
Notes
- Boiling the dough in baking soda water gives pretzels their classic chewy crust and deep flavor.
- You can replace Pillsbury Biscuit Dough with homemade dough if preferred.
- Feel free to experiment with toppings such as garlic salt, cinnamon sugar, or shredded cheese.
- Serve warm with mustard or cheese dipping sauce for best taste.
- Allow pretzel bites to cool slightly before serving to avoid burns.
