Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 package (25 oz) frozen cheese ravioli
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce

Dairy and Cheese

  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish thoroughly to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Ravioli: Cook the frozen cheese ravioli according to the package directions until al dente. Drain the ravioli well and set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Brown the Beef: In a medium skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with garlic powder, salt, and pepper until fully browned and no longer pink. Drain excess fat from the skillet.
  4. Mix Ricotta Layer: In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, sour cream, and Italian seasoning until smooth and evenly mixed.
  5. Assemble the Casserole: Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Place half of the cooked ravioli over the sauce. Spoon and spread half of the ricotta mixture evenly over the ravioli. Add half of the browned ground beef on top, then spread more marinara sauce. Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheeses over the top. Repeat all layers with the remaining ravioli, ricotta mixture, beef, marinara sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses.
  6. Bake: Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes, or until the top is bubbly and golden brown.
  7. Rest and Serve: Allow the casserole to rest for 10 minutes after baking. This helps the layers set for easy serving. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use frozen ravioli directly from the freezer for best texture when cooking.
  • Feel free to substitute ground beef with ground turkey or Italian sausage for variation.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste, adding more garlic powder or Italian seasoning if desired.
  • The casserole can be prepared a day ahead and refrigerated; bake when ready to serve.
  • Leftovers keep well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat nicely in the oven.
