Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 14.5 ounces diced tomatoes, drained (1 can)
  • 2.25 ounces sliced black olives, drained (1 small can)
  • 1 packet Italian dressing mix
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Additional

  • 4 ounces pepperoni slices
  • 4 large flour tortillas (burrito sized) or 8 small flour tortillas

Instructions

  1. Combine the filling ingredients: In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to blend the softened cream cheese, drained diced tomatoes, drained black olives, Italian dressing mix, and shredded mozzarella cheese until smooth and well incorporated.
  2. Spread filling on tortillas: Evenly divide the mixture by spreading 1/4 on each of the 4 large flour tortillas laid flat. Be sure to cover most of the surface for an even spread of flavors.
  3. Add pepperoni slices: Place pepperoni slices evenly over the filling on each tortilla to add savory meatiness to the rolls.
  4. Roll and chill: Tightly roll each tortilla up into a log shape. Wrap each roll individually in plastic wrap and chill for at least 30 minutes to allow the filling to set and make slicing easier.
  5. Slice and serve: After chilling, slice off the ends of each roll to tidy them up, then cut each roll into 8 pinwheel slices. Arrange on a platter and serve immediately as a delicious finger food or party appetizer.

Notes

  • For best results, soften the cream cheese to room temperature before mixing.
  • Draining the tomatoes and olives well prevents sogginess in the filling.
  • You can substitute pepperoni with salami or omit for a vegetarian version.
  • Store any leftovers wrapped in plastic wrap in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • These pinwheels are perfect for potlucks, picnics, or as a quick snack.
