Orange and Honey Glazed Brussels Sprouts is a vibrant, flavorful side dish featuring tender roasted Brussels sprouts coated in a sweet and tangy glaze made from Florida orange juice, honey, and chili paste. Perfectly caramelized and brightened with a touch of lemon zest, this recipe offers a delightful balance of sweetness, acidity, and subtle heat.

Ingredients

Scale

Brussels Sprouts

  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

Glaze

  • 1/2 cup Florida Orange Juice
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon chili paste
  • 2 teaspoons grated lemon zest (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450ºF and place a large, rimmed baking sheet on the middle rack to heat up while you prepare the Brussels sprouts.
  2. Prepare Brussels Sprouts: In a large bowl, toss the trimmed and halved Brussels sprouts with oil, salt, and freshly ground pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Roast Brussels Sprouts: Remove the hot baking sheet from the oven carefully and arrange the Brussels sprouts cut side down on it. Return to the oven and roast for about 20 minutes, flipping once halfway through, until the sprouts are golden and tender.
  4. Make the Glaze: While the Brussels sprouts roast, combine the Florida orange juice, apple cider vinegar, honey, and chili paste in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook for 5 to 10 minutes until the sauce reduces and becomes syrupy. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  5. Combine and Serve: Transfer the roasted Brussels sprouts to a large bowl, pour the orange and honey glaze over them, and toss to coat thoroughly. Transfer to a serving plate and garnish with grated lemon zest if using. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, use fresh Florida orange juice for the glaze.
  • Adjust the chili paste amount depending on your preferred spice level.
  • Be careful when removing the hot baking sheet from the oven to avoid burns.
  • You can add chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts for added texture.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated gently.
