Delicious and nutritious hemp seed chocolate bliss balls made with dates, peanut butter, hemp seeds, and cocoa powder. These no-bake treats are easy to prepare, packed with protein and healthy fats, and perfect as a snack or dessert. Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup dates (about 8 dates)
  • 12 tbsp hot water (optional, use only if your dates are a little hard)
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp hemp seeds
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder

Toppings

  • 12 tbsp chocolate chips for topping
  • More hemp seeds for topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dates: Pit the dates and place them in a food processor. Add 1 tablespoon of hot water at a time and pulse until the mixture starts to form a sticky ball. The hot water helps soften the dates if they are a bit firm.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Add the peanut butter, hemp seeds, and cocoa powder to the food processor. Pulse several more times until all ingredients are well combined and the dough is moist but still holds its shape. If the dough is too wet, add a little more cocoa powder to achieve the right consistency.
  3. Chill the Dough: Refrigerate the dough for 15 minutes to firm it up, making it easier to roll into balls.
  4. Shape the Bliss Balls: Using a tablespoon, scoop out portions of the dough and gently roll each into a ball. Place the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet. You should get about 12 equally sized bliss balls.
  5. Melt and Drizzle Chocolate: In a small bowl, melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth.
  6. Top and Set: Drizzle the melted chocolate over the bliss balls and sprinkle with additional hemp seeds. Place the bliss balls back in the fridge to set before serving.

Notes

  • If your dates are soft, you may not need to add hot water.
  • You can substitute peanut butter with almond butter for a different flavor.
  • Store the bliss balls in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to one week.
  • For a nut-free version, use sunflower seed butter instead of peanut butter.
  • These bliss balls can be frozen for up to 3 months; thaw before serving.
