Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Layer

  • 1 box brownie mix + required ingredients as per package
  • 3/4 cup holiday M&Ms (for batter)

Cake Layer

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup holiday M&Ms (for batter)

Fillings & Toppings

  • 20 Rolos or caramel filled kisses
  • 20 Hershey’s Kiss Hugs
  • 1/4 cup holiday M&Ms and sprinkles (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 13 x 9-inch cake pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy removal.
  2. Make Brownie Batter: In a large bowl, prepare the brownie mix according to the package instructions. Once ready, fold in 3/4 cup of holiday colored M&Ms for a festive touch.
  3. Make Cake Batter: In a separate large bowl, combine the yellow cake mix with 1/4 cup vegetable oil, 1/3 cup milk, and 1 egg. Mix well until smooth. Then fold in 1/4 cup of holiday M&Ms.
  4. Layer Brownie Batter: Pour about one-third to one-half of the brownie batter evenly into the prepared pan, spreading it gently with a spoon all the way to the edges.
  5. Add Fillings: Place the 20 Hershey’s Kiss Hugs and 20 caramel-filled Rolos or caramel kisses gently on top of the brownie batter. Do not press them into the batter; just let them sit on top.
  6. Add Remaining Brownie Batter: Carefully pour the remaining brownie batter over the kisses, spreading it as evenly as possible without moving the candies underneath.
  7. Add Cake Batter Dollops: Drop large spoonfuls of the yellow cake batter on top of and between the brownie batter areas, filling in holes and covering as much of the candies as possible without completely covering the brownie batter sections. You might have some cake batter left over.
  8. Swirl Batters: Using a toothpick, gently swirl the brownie and cake batters together to create a marbled effect and to cover any exposed tops of the kisses.
  9. Add Toppings and Bake: Sprinkle a scant 1/4 cup of holiday M&Ms and festive sprinkles on top. Bake at 350°F for 25 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs but no raw batter.
  10. Cool and Serve: Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before slicing into squares. Enjoy your festive double-decker triple stuffed Christmas brownies!

Notes

  • Use parchment paper to ensure easy removal of the brownies from the pan.
  • Do not press the candy kisses into the batter; placing them gently on top helps maintain the layers.
  • Swirling batters creates a beautiful marbled effect and ensures the flavors combine.
  • Adjust baking time slightly if using a different size pan or if your oven runs hot or cool.
  • Let brownies cool well before cutting to avoid breaking apart.
