For the Dough and Filling
- 1 can refrigerated pizza dough
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
For Topping and Serving
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salsa for dipping
- Sour cream for dipping
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the taco sticks.
- Cook Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain any excess fat, then add the taco seasoning and stir according to the packet directions. Set the cooked meat aside.
- Roll Out Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the refrigerated pizza dough into a large rectangle.
- Assemble Filling: Spread the seasoned ground beef evenly over one half of the rolled-out dough. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese evenly over the meat.
- Fold Dough: Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and press the edges firmly to seal the filling inside.
- Cut and Twist Strips: Cut the sealed dough into 1-inch wide strips. Twist each strip several times and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush with Butter: Brush the tops of the twisted sticks with the melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder to add flavor and help browning.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes, or until the sticks are golden brown and crispy.
- Serve: Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly. Serve warm with salsa and sour cream for dipping.
Notes
- Make sure to drain the fat from the ground beef to avoid greasy taco sticks.
- Use freshly shredded cheese for better melting than pre-shredded cheese.
- Twist the strips tightly to help the sticks hold together during baking.
- These can be made ahead and reheated in the oven for a few minutes to crisp up before serving.
- For a spicier kick, add chopped jalapeños to the beef mixture.
