Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 1 lb boneless/skinless cooked and shredded chicken
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp oregano

Rolls

  • 2 packages crescent rolls (8 count each)
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (for sauce)
  • 10.5 oz cream of chicken soup
  • 10.5 oz milk (use soup can to measure)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked, shredded chicken with 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle garlic powder and oregano over the mixture, then stir thoroughly to evenly coat the chicken with the seasonings and cheese.
  2. Assemble Rolls: Unroll each crescent roll dough. Scoop about 1/3 cup of the chicken mixture onto the wide end of each crescent triangle. Carefully roll the dough starting from the wide end, enclosing the filling inside each crescent roll. Repeat until all rolls are filled.
  3. Arrange Rolls: Place all the stuffed crescent rolls seam-side down into a greased 9×13-inch baking pan, arranging them closely but evenly spaced.
  4. Prepare Sauce: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the remaining 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese, cream of chicken soup, and milk. Heat gently until the cheese has melted and the mixture is warm and smooth, stirring occasionally to avoid scorching.
  5. Pour Sauce: Evenly pour the warm creamy cheese sauce over the crescent rolls in the baking pan, making sure each roll is thoroughly coated.
  6. Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the casserole uncovered for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and the sauce is bubbly.
  7. Serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve warm as a delicious meal or appetizer.

Notes

  • Use leftover cooked chicken or rotisserie chicken to save time.
  • You can add a pinch of black pepper or red pepper flakes for a little heat.
  • Make sure not to overfill the crescent rolls to prevent leaking during baking.
  • For extra crispiness, bake uncovered but if you prefer softer rolls, cover with foil for the first 20 minutes.
  • Substitute cream of chicken soup with cream of mushroom for a different flavor.
