Delight in these warm Caramel Stuffed Bloomin’ Apples, a perfect autumn dessert featuring crisp apples filled with gooey caramel squares, baked to tender perfection and served with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. This easy recipe combines the sweet flavors of cinnamon, brown sugar, and butter for an irresistible treat.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Apples

  • 4 Apples (firm, crisp variety like Honeycrisp)
  • 8 Chewy Caramel Squares

For the Topping

  • 4 Tbsp Melted Butter
  • 1 Tbsp Packed Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • Cooking Spray (for greasing)

For Serving

  • Vanilla Ice Cream
  • Caramel Sauce (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Butter Mixture: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) or air fryer to 350°F (175°C). In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, packed brown sugar, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon to create a sweet cinnamon-butter glaze.
  2. Prepare the Apples: Slice the tops off each apple and carefully use an apple corer to remove the core without cutting through the bottom, creating a hollow center. Place each apple cut-side down, then make thin crosswise slices around the apple, slicing almost to the bottom but not through, so the apple opens like a bloom.
  3. Stuff and Glaze the Apples: Insert two caramel squares into the hollowed center of each apple. Use a pastry brush to generously coat the tops and crevices of the apples with the cinnamon-butter mixture, ensuring every slice is covered.
  4. Bake or Air Fry the Apples: For oven baking, grease a baking dish with cooking spray, place the apples upright, and bake for approximately 30 minutes or until tender. For air fryer, place the apples in the basket and cook at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes until soft and caramel melted.
  5. Serve Warm: Remove the apples from the oven or air fryer and serve immediately. Top each warm apple with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle with caramel sauce for an indulgent finish.

Notes

  • Choose firm and crisp apples like Honeycrisp for the best texture.
  • Be careful not to slice all the way through the bottom of the apples to keep the bloom intact.
  • Adjust the baking or air frying time based on the size and sweetness of your apples.
  • Use chewy caramel squares for a gooey filling that melts nicely.
  • Serve immediately to enjoy the contrast between warm apples and cold ice cream.
  • This recipe is vegetarian but contains dairy.
