Ingredients

Scale

Dip Ingredients

  • 250 g Herb & garlic cream cheese
  • 1 cup Tex Mex shredded cheese
  • 500 ml Homestyle chili
  • 2 Green onions, diced

Serving

  • 1 Bag Tortilla chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare the mixture: In a bowl, combine the herb and garlic cream cheese, homestyle chili, and Tex Mex shredded cheese. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Assemble in foil packet: Transfer the cheese and chili mixture into a large piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Ensure the mixture is evenly spread and then wrap tightly to form a sealed foil packet to prevent leaks during cooking.
  3. Cook over campfire: Place the foil packet over low heat on the campfire or grill. Cook for 10-15 minutes, allowing the cheese to melt and the dip to heat through completely. Carefully remove it from heat once melty and bubbly.
  4. Add toppings and serve: Open the foil packet carefully to avoid steam burns. Sprinkle the diced green onions on top for a fresh, crisp bite. Serve immediately with tortilla chips for dipping.

Notes

  • Do as much prep at home as possible to make campfire cooking and cleanup easier.
  • Use a baking sheet under foil packets when cooking to avoid any drips or leaking onto the grill or fire.
  • Double wrap or use heavy-duty foil for better durability and to prevent breakage of the packet.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in a cooler; the dip reheats very well the next day.
