Ingredients

Scale

Fish

  • 1 1/2 lbs cod fillets, cut into smaller pieces

Seasonings

  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 3/4 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper

Other Ingredients

  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Lemon slices (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the seasoning mix: In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and ground black pepper to create a flavorful seasoning blend.
  2. Season the cod: Evenly coat the cod pieces with the prepared seasoning mixture, ensuring all sides are well-seasoned for maximum flavor.
  3. Start cooking the cod: Heat 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once melted and hot, add the seasoned cod pieces and cook for 2 minutes without disturbing to develop a light crust.
  4. Flip and add butter: Carefully lower the heat to medium and gently flip the cod pieces. Add the remaining 4 tablespoons of butter to the skillet, allowing it to melt around the fish as it cooks for another 3 to 4 minutes.
  5. Finish cooking: Let the butter fully melt and ensure the fish is cooked through. Be cautious not to overcook the cod, as it can become flaky and fall apart.
  6. Add lemon juice and garnish: Drizzle the freshly squeezed juice of half a lemon over the cooked cod in the skillet. Garnish with chopped parsley and lemon slices to brighten the presentation and flavor.

Notes

  • Adjust seasoning to taste; you can add more or less salt and spices based on preference.
  • Serve immediately to enjoy the cod at its best texture and flavor.
  • Cod cooks quickly; keep an eye to avoid overcooking which can cause the fish to become dry or fall apart.
  • Use fresh lemon juice for optimal brightness and freshness in the final dish.
  • Fresh parsley not only adds flavor but also a lovely color contrast.
