  • ½ cup red bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • ¼ cup red onion, finely chopped
  • ¼ cup cilantro, finely chopped
  • ¼ cup green onion, finely chopped
  • ½ small jalapeno, seeded and finely chopped

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Using a food processor, pulse the shrimp until finely chopped. Transfer the chopped shrimp to a mixing bowl and set aside.

  5. Step 5: Shape the mixture into 4 evenly sized patties. Coat each patty with the remaining 1 cup of Panko breadcrumbs.
  6. Step 6: Lightly grease the air fryer pan with avocado oil, then arrange the shrimp patties in a single layer. Avoid crowding them.
  7. Step 7: Cook in the air fryer for 10 minutes, flipping the patties halfway through cooking until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Step 8: Serve the patties immediately with lime wedges and your favorite salsa or side dish. Enjoy!

Tips & Variations

  • For a milder flavor, reduce or omit the jalapeno and hot pepper sauce.
  • Try adding a dash of smoked paprika or cumin to enhance the smoky flavor.
  • If you don’t have an air fryer, you can pan-fry the patties in a little oil over medium heat until golden and cooked through.
  • Use gluten-free breadcrumbs to make this dish gluten-free.

Storage

Store leftover shrimp patties in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat them in the air fryer or a skillet to maintain crispiness. Avoid microwaving if possible, as it may make them soggy.

How to Serve

Three golden brown crab cakes sit close together on a white plate, each cake showing a rough and crispy texture with visible bits of green herbs and small red pepper pieces throughout.
